Look of the day: KARL

Monday, November 19, 2012

First things first - tomorrow is kind of a crucial day (Exam) (Oh, no, pardon me, exams) for me so let's all pray that it ends well. Thanks.

And now, let's get down to business: I had this idea about calling this look 'Alice in Wonderland' but I figured, although the venue was perfect and the amount of Photoshop used for the story was just about right, a dress was indeed needed, so I'll leave it for another time as the man on my chest was far more important than the whole lost-in-the-woods scheme.
For those who still haven't figured it out - it's Karl Lagerfeld. (As said in the title, and once again - clearly shown hanging around my neck) If you remember (and you should, cause Karl's an icon) (& when you look at it, a brand all by himself) this necklace was produced a year or so ago, at a price of Kenzo's right now it-sweaters.
So instead of forgetting about it, I decided to use my imagination and DIY. And it turned out amazing - since I'm not the DIY type so much. (Patience is not my thing)
Okay, let's move on. I bought these over-the-top Lana Del Rey H&M leggings a while ago (Well, actually, I bought them as soon as I saw the ad) (I even chased my size all over town) and then realized I don't have a sweater to wear them with. (Well, I have sweaters, but since I'm not that 'leggings are pants' kind of gal, I had to find a different kind of sweater)
So Sheinside sent me this cutie pie and now I'm all done. I'm lovin' the all-black thing vs. colored-splashed leggings.

And not to forget - what you're seeing today is my hair au naturale. (I think that's a first!) I usually straigten it or wear it in a ponytail/chignon/bun but today, for some unknown reason, stopped resisting and let it be. (And it's not even that bad)

Wearing:
Sheinside sweater, H&M leggings, Humanic boots, H&M hat, DIY necklace, tailored coat

XOXO,
Lucija

We shot these photos some four hours ago but I couldn't resist showing them to you ASAP as I'm kinda totally-not-being-modest-at-all in love with them. I don't know if there's a better feeling than being deeply gratified with what you've done knowing that, from the beginning, it's been your work one hundred percent.
What I always look for in a photo, whether it's a part of editorial or a single shot, is that it has to make you react in some way - whether you say it's grotesque, beautiful, or it brings up a memory or just reflects a feeling. To me, these are far too familiar to bring out feelings, (cause, you know, I've been looking at them for so long now) (Photoshop is a bitch that way) but I do associate them with both RNR and apocalypse at the same time. (Which is both a reason to be worried and pleased, I think) (But they make me react somehow, and that's the important part)

Oh, and thanks to Nina. I know you've already seen her here a couple of times, but we just can't stop shooting together. And isn't she just oh so gorgeous?

Lucija

What I snapped: #5

Saturday, September 8, 2012

Okay, so - lemme first say this was a totally unexpected post. I wasn't even aware until 10 mins ago I was gonna do it. So yeah. Try to keep up with the story (which will, as always, be perfectly told and not at all confusing) and connect the dots. (I blame the Avicii/Maroon 5/Coldplay mix that's playing right now for my super duper energy kick) (+ oh, and maybe ice cream too?)
I planned on doing an outfit post for today, but Monika (the lovely girl in the photos) (also, one of my dearest friends) (also, the one to blame for me not being able to fully stand on my right foot because I twisted my ankle while walking in 5 inch heels uphill when the grass was super slippery) called me a few days ago and said she wanted me to finally (and by finally she meant after two years of endless shoot dates which were one by one cancelled for this or that reason) take photos of her.
Monika's super simple when it comes to outfits so I wanted to do a relaxed, easygoing shoot. In traslation, see what happens once we start. No preparation, no planning. We didn't even think about the location too much - the lake Bundek first came to my mind so we went there yesterday.
And while shooting, although I was pleased with the photos, I didn't think they would look this good on screen. But then, when, an hour or so ago, I finally sat in front of my computer and opened photoshop - surprise surprise. So I had to show it to you, right?
See? Unexpected. And I totally love it.

Which one's your favourite?

THE RED DRESS

Saturday, May 5, 2012

I hope you all finally get why I took a leave of absence from outfit posts... I just wanted you to be really eager when you see this. I think this is already one of my favourite posts, and it isn't even done yet.

Okay, to explain. These are obviously not taken by me nor people who usually take my photos. They are a product of a photoshoot I did with my friend Luka. We wanted to achieve a certain fairytale look, but in our own way and I really like how it turned out.
I bought this dress in Vienna in December and I have been waiting for six months to finally get to wear it. It's really feminine, and also versatile - I wore it to school combined with a denim jacket and flats, and if you wanna look more glamorous you can easily style it up with heels and a bejeweled jacket.
Also, whenever I think of maxi dresses, I immediately visualize super pretty long earrings.

So, as you can see here, as we were in the woods and I always kind of associate fairytales with easiness and loads of light, I kept things simple and wore my Forever21 dress with simple vintage necklace and bracelet and Tommy Hilfiger flats.

Thanks Luka

Lucija
